La Vie Eco Presse

Created in 1957 by Marcel Herzog, La Vie Eco Presse was founded to be the editing company of Morocco’s historical business and financial news print outlet La Vie Eco. In 1994, it was reacquired by French press magnate Jean-Louis Servan-Schreiber, close to Royal Advisor André Azoulay and Fouad Filali, King Hassan II’s ex-son in law and former Director of Royal Holding Group SNI/ONA.

In 1997, the company was sold again and has now a capital structure involving key players of Morocco’s economy. Current political figure Aziz Akhannouch and owner of mastodonte holding group AKWA is present in the capital structure through both a subsidiary of his holding group as well as through the holding. The companies SOFIMA and OFIMAR, own 5% each of the company, while Doumalliances - owned in majority by businessman Karim Tazi - and SOCOGES are each respectively at 1.11% and 2.77%.

Futhermore, in its supervisory board, and holder of 1 symbolic share, we find another current minister, member of government and owner of Saham Group - one of the top ten financial/insurance groups in the country - Moulay Hafid Elalamy. Alongside him, representing GD Capital, we find Jamal Chaqroun, spouse to Meriem Bensalah, businesswoman and President of the CGEM, who owns a symbolic share in a competitive paper: L’Economiste.
