Al Ayam
Created in 2001, by Noureddine Miftah, Al Ayam is an Arabic-language weekly newspaper, distributed at a monthly average of 10 763 copies. Only about sixty percent of this distribution are actually the result of individual purchase. It is edited by the company Mediayam, of which Miftah is general director - and also the outlet’s editor-in-chief.
Its creation followed Miftah and his editorial team’s departure from the widely popular Arabic-language weekly Assahifa. The aim was at first to maintain a rigorous and quasi-similar editorial line to Assahifa. Over time, however, with the departure of key figures such as Maria Moukrim, the weekly saw its editorial line change to become less contentious.
