Société Nationale de Radiodiffusion et de Télévision [SNRT]
The SNRT is undergoing severe financial difficulties according to a report by the Court of Auditors due to its financial model. However, this state-owned company benefits form 88% of public funding dedicated to the media sector, in other words over 1 billion $US over a nine-year period (2006 - 2015). It is fully funded by the state and is struggling to find its business model.
The SNRT, previously known as Radio-Maroc was one of the founding members of the European Broadcasting Union in 1950 and continued as an active member until 1 January 1961 when RTM changed its affiliation to associate membership. In 1969 RTM was readmitted as an active member.
The SNRT is a minority shareholder in Euronews.
