Couple Bensalah/Chaqroun
Meriem Bensaleh Chaqroun, born in 1962, is a laureate of both “l'Ecole Supérieure de Commerce de Paris de l’Université Paris 9 Dauphine” (1980-1984), and the “University of Dallas” (1984-1986). In 1990, she joins her family owned group ‘Holmarcom’ as an administrator, and is named head of one of its affiliate companies, « Eaux Minérales d’Oulmès ». She is elected president of the “Confédération Générale des Entreprises du Maroc (CGEM) “in 2012, and is reelected in 2015. She is also a member of the Board of Directors of “Akhawayn University” (2004), “Bank Al Maghrib” (2006), “Initiative for Global Development” (2014), the group “Suez” (2016), and the group “Renault” (2017).
Her husband, Jamal Chaqroun, is also a laureate of both the “Ecole Supérieure de Commerce” of Paris, and the “University of Dallas”. He joins his father-in-law’s company “Holmarcom” in 1986, and creates his own company “GD Holding” (General Development Holding) in 1995. (He is the son of Amina Rachid a famous actress).
Coincidently, Meriem Bensalah is present in the Supervisory Board of the EcoMedias Group (publisher of l'Economiste and Assabah), while her husband, Jamal Chaqroun, is a minority shareholder of La Vie Eco Presse (editing company of La Vie Eco - owned in part by billionaire Aziz Akhannouch) through his business: GD Holding.
In 2006, Holmarcom becomes the majority actioner of ‘Radio Plus’. By integrating this radio’s round table, the group Holmarcom allows itself into a new field of activity area and aims to participate in the development of the media market in Morocco.
