Taoufik Bouachrine
In 2006, Bouachrine participated in the creation of “Al Massae”, along with ‘Rachid Niny’ , ‘Samir Chaouki’, and ‘Mohammed Asli’. He had been the Chief Editor of “Al Jarida Al Okhra” before, which was banned the same year. Two years later, in 2008, he quit Al Massae following disagreements on the newspaper’s visions with Rachid Niny, and started Akhbar Al Yaoum the following year.
“Akhbar Al Yaoum” and its director Bouachrine have been the subject of many lawsuits, but both the newspaper and the news website continue to exist. For example, in 2015, both the Minister of Economy and Finances, and the Minister of Agriculture filed a lawsuit against Bouachrine, for defamation.
In another case, following a lawsuit filed by Ahmed Charaï and the American journalist Richard Miniter for defamation the same year, he was condemned to a conditional sentence of imprisonment and to a fine of 1,6 million Moroccan Dirhams (MAD).
Taoufik Bouachrine was born in 1969 and holds a degree in Political Science from the University Mohammed V (1997).
